What is recorded here

One gallaun still stands on the lower slopes of Hungry Hill, overlooking Bear Haven and Bear Island. The first Ordnance Survey map showed two stones, but the second map showed only one, leaving behind a gap nobody has explained. The remaining stone is broad, low and aligned from northeast to southwest, squat in the boggy pasture like a shoulder bent under rain. It may have marked a boundary, a memory, a route or a ceremony, but with its partner gone the full shape of the place has disappeared.
