What is recorded here
Pole-mounted cast-iron post box, c.1930, with P&T emblem. Rounded-head box with rectangular aperture and display panel. Mounted on replacement timber post.
A well-maintained mid twentieth century post box, whose 'P&T' emblem serves as a reminder of changes to post box design following the creation of the Free State. The royal cipher of the British monarchy found on earlier post boxes was replaced by the Post and Telegraphs emblem.
