Grave Yard in County Offaly holds a 19th-Century Cof I church built on the site of a medieval church, with a 17th-century graveslab dedicated to John Carroll who died in 1681. The slab bears roman capitals carved in false relief above an incised iona-style cross with an engrailed shaft. What is known is that the place has been used for burial across centuries, and what is wonder is that John Carroll and others beneath the grass have watched the church rise and fall around them.
