Mortons and others built circular homes across Ireland, yet locals still call these forts fairy places because they belong to no one living family. Rassan preserves a thirty-six-metre circular chamber surrounded by a high earthen bank and a water-filled ditch, though a modern drain has taken the place of part of the ancient boundary. The forgotten entrance has vanished beneath vegetation and changed ground. Someone may have lived there, loved there, feasted there or fled from it before human memory closed the door.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 36m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep, partly waterlogged fosse running from SE-W-NE. Elsewhere the enclosing features have been replaced with a modern field bank and drain. Original entrance not recognisable. Internal area densely overgrown with vegetation.
