What is recorded here
Five-sixths of a thirty-five-metre earthen circle still stands in the northern pasture, its grassy bank rising half a metre above the flat green field. The southern edge has been levelled for twenty-five metres, but the remaining ring encloses uneven ground where a pale rock outcrop breaks through the soil in the northeast. Bowman identified the broader area as a church site and burial ground, a judgement matching the local name An Cillin, the little church. The fort may have been a dwelling, a boundary marker, or a forgotten shrine, yet its unbroken curve suggests people once valued the space enough to shape the earth and leave it standing.
In nearly level pasture, in N half of early ecclesiastical enclosure (CO038-00203-). Circular area (35.4m N-S; 35.5m E-W) defined by grass-covered earthen bank, containing some stones (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.85m), except to S where levelled for c. 25m. Shallow external fosse to SE and W. Interior surface uneven; rock outcrop visible in NE quadrant. Bowman (1934, 666) refers to site as 'church site and burial ground on the northern end of...fort' (early ecclesiastical enclosure); locally called 'An Cillin' - the little church; 'about five-sixths' of enclosing bank survives; interior c. 3ft higher than level of surrounding 'fort'.
