Knocknamona holds a faded ringfort where a thirty-metre circle once rose above gentle pasture. The 1842 survey marked its hachured lines before ploughs and feet softened the earth into a low ridge. People may have lived there, feared the dark or simply followed the curve of the land. What remains is a shape the village still recognizes, even when the name has become a fairy fort.
