Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed, but the idea is not wrong: they are chambers where the invisible becomes visible. In Kippagh North a twenty-five metre circle stood on an east-facing slope, drawn on maps from 1842 to 1938 before ploughs and boundaries cut through it. Part of its eastern bank still hides inside a field fence, and rain or drought may yet make the whole circle appear. The fairies never left; they stopped being unusual.

In pasture, on E-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; curve in N-S field boundary (L c. 17m; H 0.95m) appears to incorporate part of original E bank. Faint cropmark of bank visible in aerial photograph (GSIAP, W407).
