What is recorded here

Kilquain is empty because men took its stones. The circular enclosure marked on the 1838 map has vanished under quarrying, not time. What is missing is not forgotten, it is owned. The land was farmed, measured and taken. Fairy forts are not fantasy, they are warning. Where human tools enter, the old boundary breaks. What was hidden may have been protected. What was taken may have been stolen. The absence is the shape of the loss.

On a drumlin in flat pastureland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m). McCaffrey (1952, 232, no. 33) recorded that it was 'Not present' during his survey of the area. Due to extensive quarrying, no visible surface trace survives.
