What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Edenburt: a raised circular area, twenty-two metres across inside a substantial earthen bank. The west break looks modern, while the true entrance has vanished under soil and time. People may have lived there, excluded others, or fled into legend when the land changed.
Raised circular area (int. diam. 22m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank. Large break in bank at W appears to be modern. Original entrance not recognisable.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
