Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Curragh (carbery West (w.d.) By.) stood on an east-facing slope beside the Ilen river until fence removal levelled its circular earthworks. The vanished rath may have sheltered people, excluded strangers, or marked a boundary between neighbourhoods. Its absence does not erase the shape; it returns the story to memory, where the fort can still be walked, imagined and remembered.

In tillage, on E-facing slope, c. 100m SW of Ilen river. Marked as circular enclosure on OS 6-inch map (1842). Levelled, probably during field fence removal; no visible surface trace.
