What is recorded here

Discovered in 1986 during construction of Bruff-Mallow gas pipeline (Gowen 1988, 179, site 1/13/1; pers. comm. M. Gowen). Two isolated shallow pits (diam. 0.3m; D 0.25m) containing heat-shattered stones and charcoal-flecked soil; possibly pockets of redeposited fulacht fiadh material. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
