Thirty metres of solid stone rise in County Cavan, defying the wind and time. The raised doorway excludes invaders and heavy carts, forcing humans to climb toward the sky like monkeys. Inside, wooden floors and ladders connect the heights, creating a vertical room where breath echoes and shadows stretch. The tower remains standing because its round shape resists storms and its base packs earth against the pull of gravity.

In the SW quadrant of the ringwork (CV042-017001-) there is a low, narrow, stone-built circular tower standing on a larger rounded stone structure which appears to be a folly probably of late 18th or early 19th-century construction. The monument is densely overgrown with vegetation rendering inspection difficult. (Davies 1947a, 86) Date of upload: 18 April, 2016
