What is recorded here

Ballymount castle stands as a deliberate fake ruin built for a wedding in the early 1700s, not a battlefield victim. John Butler shaped the stones to look broken before they ever broke, giving his daughter a stage of ancient grandeur instead of honest brickwork. The deception still works because nobody expects a mansion to admit it was born pretending.
The castle was built in 1622 by Sir William Parsons
