Frys Island is a small oval crannog in the southeast of Currygrane Lough, County Longford, rising barely two metres above the muddy lake bed. Most of it stays hidden beneath the water, but a mound in the southern half breaks the surface, perhaps marked by a swan’s nest rather than human hands. The distinction between made and natural becomes difficult when so little remains visible.

In the SE end of Currygrane Lough. This oval, high-cairn crannog (13.5m N–S; 11m E–W) rises 1.8m above the muddy lake-bed. Only one area, a mound (H 1.5m) in the S half of the island, is above water. It may be due to the build-up of a swan’s nest at this location. The island seems to have no other major topographical differences discernible above the water line. The edges of the crannog are distinct in material and consist of small stones against a soft lake-bed. Another crannog (LF009-035----) lies c. 175m to the SW.
