Watchtower in Doolargy

Watchtower

What is recorded here

Doolargy is a place of quiet loss. A tall woman in a blue coat walked its roads for thirty years, asking no one to slow her pace. She died at fifty with her knees broken and her lungs full of dust. The watchtower still stands above the town, leaning slightly west as if listening for her return. On clear nights the lantern room glows without fire, and the light moves in a circle exactly the way she walked.
