Hut site in Crossterry West

In rough pasture, on bog, on an E-facing hillslope. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 2.8m) defined by a stone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.6m) which protrudes above the surface of the bog. The level interior, which is in pasture, is raised (H 0.3m) at the E and cut (D 0.3m) into the upslope at the W to compensate for the hillslope. A break (Wth 0.5m) at the NE indicates the entrance location. Rubble is scattered on the downslope to the E. There is a hut site (CO104-037003-) c. 10m to the S and another hut site (CO104-037001-) is c. 12m to the W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
