Hut site in Crossterry West

In rough pasture, on bog, on the NW side of a NE-facing sheltered hollow. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 4m) defined by the partially collapsed lower courses of a stone wall (T 0.55m; H 0.45m) which protrudes above the surface of the bog. A boulder is incorporated into the wall along the SE arc. The almost level interior is raised (H 0.6m) at the SE and cut (D 0.3m) into the upslope at the NW to compensate for the hillslope. There is a hut site (CO104-036002-) c. 6m to the NW and another hut site (CO104-036003-) is c. 9m to the SE. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
