What is recorded here
Three conjoined huts sit inside one circular bank on the east side of Corrin Hill, their walls no higher than a person’s knee and their northern gap left open to the sky. They belong to a small cluster of four raths within seventy-five metres, close enough that a voice carried from one dwelling to another. The layout suggests shared life rather than isolated pride, with families or workers moving between compartments instead of building separate houses.
KE036-076---- is one of a group of 4 raths situated in close proximity to one another on the E side of Corrin Hill. It lies c. 75m from KE036-077---- and c. 50m from KE036-075----. The circular interior, contains 3 conjoined huts.
(3) (KE036-076003-) The 3rd hut, c. 4.5m in diameter internally, abuts the SE side of the central hut. The enclosing bank is a maximum of .7m high internally and .6m high externally, and there is an entrance gap at N.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 367. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
