Structure

An dense deposit of brushwood, roundwoods and some bark and twigs (L 2.1m min.; Wth 1.07m min.; D 0.25m). All of the brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.059m) and roundwoods (diam. 0.06-0.09m) are interlaced with natural elements and the site identification is based on an apparent diversity of wood species and a degree of regularity in arrangement of the components. The wood is in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with roots, natural wood, ericaceous remains, fibrous roots and occasional unidentified reeds and nuts. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
