Structure

A dispersed, irregular deposit of roundwoods and some brushwood (L 4.08m min.; Wth 3.02m; D 0.19m). The roundwoods (diam. 0.063-0.096m) and pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.045m) are in small, overlying groups of parallel pieces with no apparent orientation to the structure. The upper levels of wood are in poor condition and a number of degraded, metal-cut worked ends were noted. The site is set in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with frequent roots and occasional Eriophorum and conifer cones. There is a tree stump abutting the E extent of the site. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
