Structure

A deposit (L 1.24m min.; Wth 0.77m min.; D 0.05m min.) of over fourteen pieces of mixed brushwood, a light roundwood and occasional twigs on the field surface. The elements are regularly and densely laid, one piece in depth, with the majority of the brushwood orientated SE-NW. The roundwood underlies the brushwood and is perpendicular to it. This wood is in moderate condition with branch-trimming and toolmarks evident. It is set in well-humified Sphagnum peat with frequent Eriophorum and ericaceous remains and occasional fibrous roots. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
