Settlement deserted

Settlement deserted, medieval

What is recorded here

Settlement deserted is a settlement deserted (medieval) in Clonakenny, County Tipperary, Ireland. A 1618 Patent Roll for Ballycolliton records a small thatched castle, twenty acres in small measure, and the town and fields belonging to it. The land is now flat pasture with no visible earthwork at ground level, so the community named in that late record has left no surviving shape on the surface.
See TN023-030004 and all other sub-elements in this complex (TN023-030) which relate to a settlement. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
