Castleconnor stands in County Mayo as a ruined hall-house, its stones stripped of roof and purpose but still arranged around the memory of a room where people lived. The absence of a name and date does not empty the place; it hands the story back to imagination. Perhaps a family sat inside when rain struck the walls, hearing the house breathe through its gaps.
