What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carrowkeel (boyle By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a level low-lying landscape near a small east-west stream, forming a circular overgrown area about twenty-six metres across. An earthen bank and outer wet ground mark its boundary, though no entrance remains visible and one outer bank disappeared after 1983. A ditch barrow sits one hundred metres to the west-northwest.

On a level low-lying landscape with a small E-W stream or drain c. 40m to the N. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 26m) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 7.5-8.5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.2-1.8m) and an outer band (Wth 3-4m) of wet ground indicating a fosse. There is no visible entrance, and an outer bank has been removed since 1983 (SMR file).
