What is recorded here

No visible marker exists at Friars Seat, only a map line and a dead monk's chair on a cliff. The absence is the shape: a man sat there often enough to become a landmark, then the sea or forgetting took the stone. Donegal keeps what it wants and removes the rest.

Depicted on the current edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map in gothic script as 'Friar's Seat' and partially hachured as a cliff-face. The potential monument has not been visited and it is possible that this could be a geological feature rather than a natural feature. Described in 1886 as 'on a crag, a little to the N.
