Nobody knows whether people ever entered the circle because no gap breaks its stone rim. It sits on a gravel spit where the canal water meets Gardice Lough, half hidden in bush and likely born of the lake itself. What is certain is that the circle still stands, complete and uninviting, marking the edge of human knowledge rather than the limits of human making.

Situated in bushes on a N-S spit of gravel at the W end of Gardice Lough, and c. 50m S of where the Ballinamore-Ballyconnel canal enters the lake. It is indicated as a small feature on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 8.5m) is defined by a spread of stones (Wth c. 1.5m) but it does not have an entrance and it might not be artificial.
