Burial ground in Carrickedmond

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Skull Hill in Carrickedmond, County Louth, is a burial ground where human remains repeatedly appeared in surrounding fields. The place belongs to the living memory of Carrickedmond and Kilcurry Cross, not a forgotten myth. Fields that keep returning bones are fields that remember the dead as neighbours.
'Situated on the portion of Carrickedmond which adjoins Kilcurry Cross and now called Skull Hill. Skulls and other human remains were frequently turned up in the fields around' (CLAJ 1, 1907, 73) Copiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 18 November 2011
