Not even a shadow of a wall remains on the ground, yet the fort still holds its shape in memory and legend. It sits on a steep drumlin hill in Carnagarve, high enough to watch the land but hidden from ordinary sight. People may have lived there, loved there, or fled from it, but the earth has taken back their names. What is left is a challenge: to imagine the shape of a life that no longer shows its hands.

Marked 'Fort on OS 1836 ed. and 'Site of' on 1876 ed. Situated a short distance NE of the highest point of a steep drumlin hill. Not visible at ground level. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carnagarve is a likely early-medieval circular earthwork, probably used as a defensive or agricultural settlement. Traditionally associated with fairy lore, such sites were often believed to be entrances to the Otherworld or inhabited by supernatural beings.
