What is recorded here

Caherweelder is a 38-metre circular cashel in County Galway where a later tower rises from the north-west wall. The SSE entrance has widened for a gate, while the tower may have served as a lookout or merely as a folly. Sheep still move through rough grazing around the drystone ring, giving the place an air of practical ownership rather than abandoned monument.

In rough grazing land. Well-preserved circular cashel (diam. 38m) defined by a drystone wall. The original entrance gap appears to have been at SSE; it has been enlarged to accommodate a gate. At NNW the cashel wall has been incorporated into a later solid stone structure (GA103-086002-) which may have acted as a lookout or may be a folly.
