Burial in Unknown Townland

In 1976 human remains were discovered during works on the site of Newgate prison. The remains were scattered over an area 3m by 5m (D 0.20-0.30m). The human remains (1976:610) were mixed with bits of sewer pipe, glass and brick of 19th century date. The bones were found to represent the remains of an adult male of small build, aged 20-30 years, and a number of bones of a child aged 2-3 years.
