Font is a rectangular granite basin with a central hole and two shallow cover depressions at the west end of a County Kildare church. It probably dates from the 13th or 14th century, when baptismal water still touched stone before touching skin. The plain block resists display, yet it remains the oldest visible participant in repeated birth, death and memory.
