What is recorded here

Foilnagarlagh Burial Ground is a children's burial ground in Bleantasour, County Waterford, Ireland. The 1840 edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map marked it Fail na nGarlagh Burial Ground and depicted a small rectangular enclosure measuring about thirty metres north-south and twenty-five metres east-west. That map also recorded the site on the west bank of the Colligan River, where the river turns south after running northwest to southeast. A quarry now occupies the site.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 23 December 2008
