What is recorded here

Two narrow planks lie crossed in the dark peat, preserving a forgotten shape beneath the Littleton bogs. They may have marked a path, a boundary or a small house, but the earth has taken the purpose and kept only the wood. The structure waits under water and rot, waiting for someone to imagine the hands that placed it.

Discovered during a fieldwalking survey of the Bord na Móna industrial peatlands in the Littleton group of bogs in Counties Tipperary, Kilkenny and Laois (Catalogue Code: KK-BBME005). Two transverse and adjacent planks, orientated N-S (Wth up to 0.12m; D 0.04m) in a good state of preservation.
