Graveslab in Ballypheasan is the broken bottom of a cross-marked slab lying outside Roscommon abbey, its double-line stem still visible at the fracture. It is not a display piece or a complete monument, but a surviving fragment: heavy, shallow, and cut for a life that no longer has a name. The church wall stands beside it like a witness, holding the place where measurement and memory stop competing.

The bottom part of a graveslab (L 0.8m; Wth 0.5m; T 0.16m) was noted by Bradley and Dunne(1988, 104) and recorded by Gary Dempsey outside the W wall of the N chancel of Roscommon abbey (RO039-055001-). It has a moulding on the edge and the incised double line of the stem of a cross is visible at the broken end. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 25 June, 2015
