Promontory fort is a promontory fort (coastal) in Ballynarrid, County Waterford, Ireland. Markus Casey identified it in an aerial survey as a broad south-facing headland with two small subsidiary promontories jutting east and west from its southern edge. The eastern subsidiary headland holds the faint trace of a single earthen bank and fosse crossing its neck, a low bank around its perimeter, and a slight causeway running through the centre of those enclosing elements.

Identified from an aerial survey by Markus Casey who described a broad S-facing headland which has two small subsidiary promontories jutting into the sea from the southern edge to the E (WA032-015----) and to the W (WA032-048----). This eastern subsidiary headland has the faint trace of a single earthen bank and fosse crossing its neck and a low bank around its perimeter. A slight causeway runs through the centre of the enclosing elements. The area is one of fertile pasture with an earthen bank running along the 125’ high sheer cliffs.’ (Casey 2001) Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 24 November 2021
