Enclosure in Ballymakellett

No visible trace of the enclosure remained when Melanie McQuade and Richard Jack first identified it, but the felled forest exposed a circular chamber cut into the steep western slope. They measured a narrow western entrance, a stone retaining wall, and a floor small enough for one person to occupy without touching the opposite side. The chamber may have stored tools, sheltered a hermit, or marked a boundary for the neighbouring rath. In any case, it waited beneath living trees until axes opened the hill and the hidden room reappeared.
