Burial in Ballinderrin

Burial

What is recorded here

Ballinderrin holds one buried life recovered from a gravel pit in 1984. The person had been forgotten by the living world, yet the earth kept the shape of their rest until machines opened it. That much is known; the rest belongs to imagination.
In 1984 a single inhumation burial was discovered while digging a gravel pit. The remains (1984:47) were collected and forwarded to the National Museum (pers. comm. M. Cahill and M. Sikora, NMI). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 4 November 2011
