What is recorded here

Indicated is a 34-metre circular rath on the north-facing slopes of Gallows Hill, overlooking Aughrim village. Its earthen bank and external fosse still mark the boundary, though quarrying has bitten into the southern edge. The fort sits in fair condition, preserving the shape of a place where human hands shaped the hill long before the village appeared below.
