What is recorded here

On S flank of Aughrim Hill. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1945-6) as a line of hachures curving from SE to WSW and cut by field boundaries at SE and WSW. What survives are the very poorly preserved overgrown remains of an enclosure (E-W c. 35m, N-S>25m) defined by a degraded scarp/bank and external fosse curving from SE to through S to WNW. Slight traces of an outer bank (L c. 6m) are also visible at S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
