What is recorded here

Indicated is a man-made underground passage in County Louth, Ireland, preserved in local tradition as a tunnel within a ringfort. Whether it served as a refuge, a boundary marker, or a forgotten route between fields, the tunnel still suggests that people shaped the land to hide, direct, or protect life. Its exact purpose has faded, but the distinction remains clear: this was not a natural cave, and it still belongs to the region’s memory.
