Alcedo is a broken steam coaster resting seven metres deep off County Antrim, reduced to a two-and-a-half-metre ridge of rust and memory. She struck something invisible in 1892, perhaps a submerged rock or a sudden swell, and sank before anyone could judge whether she was doomed or merely unlucky. Her bones still lie scattered beneath the green water, waiting for a diver brave enough to ask what she carried when the sea took her.

The official Northern Ireland wreck record identifies Alcedo as Steam Coaster. It was lost in 1892. Recorded depth: 7m. Recorded condition: 2.5m high, badly broken up.
