What is recorded here

Enclosure in Annagh is a small oval bank in County Limerick, still visible in satellite images after centuries of pasture and neglect. It measures about twelve by nine metres, sits near the Castlecreagh boundary, and appears on maps from 1840 and 1897. The land has changed hands and use many times, yet the shape remained. Perhaps people once gathered there, marked territory, or simply made a boundary they believed would last.

In reclaimed pasture, 110m E of townland boundary with Castlecreagh, an enclosure (LI049-085----) lies 150m to the S. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area defined by a scarp. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as an oval-shaped area (dims. c. 12m NW-SE; 9m NE-SW) enclosed by a bank.
