Detached four-bay two-storey over half-basement house, built c. 1800, having single-bay two-storey entrance (east) elevation and recent flat-roofed two-bay single-storey extension to west elevation. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings throughout, having two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows to front (north), rear (south) and entrance elevations, that to entrance elevation having render surround. Timber casement window to rear elevation, replacement timber windows and doors to extension and to enlarged openings to basement to front elevation. Round-headed door opening with moulded render surround, having limestone flags and timber panelled door with plain overlight. Yard to south of site, comprising multiple-bay two-storey ranges to north, south and east, external staircase to south elevation of north range. Pitched slate roofs, rubble stone walls, with relieving arches to south range, and partly rendered to east range. Segmental-arched openings with dressed stone voussoirs and timber fittings to north range, square-headed openings with remains of timber fittings to south and east ranges. Double-leaf wrought-iron gates to north-east corner. Rendered entrance walls and square-profile piers to site entrance.
Imposing elevation enhanced by retention of timber sash windows. Very unusual single-bay entrance elevation, with large blank expanse of wall. Ordered symmetrical elevation visible from road unusually is not entrance elevation. Contextualised by, and makes interesting group with, outbuildings to site. Simple forms of outbuildings reflect utilitarian function.
