In tillage. A spread of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil, which had been cut by a drain, was noted here in 1996 (pers. comm. Joan Rockley). This spread was not located in 2002 as there was a high cereal crop in the field.

Burnt mound in Bawnard West is a Neolithic ritual or industrial site, dating to approximately 4000–2500 BCE. Its significance lies in providing evidence of early human activity, possibly related to cooking, feasting, or ceremonial practices.
