Quakers Burial Ground is a burial ground in Woodhouse, County Tipperary, Ireland. John Boles bequeathed the site in 1731 and is buried there with his son, who died in 1726. A round-headed stone arch marked FRIENDS BURIAL GROUND stands over the iron gate into the roughly 38 by 30 metre enclosure. Twelve burials are recorded between 1731 and 1821, the last recorded year of use.
In level area of disused pasture, on inside bend of tertiary road, which respects monument on W-side. Sub-rectangular area (dims. c. 38m N-S; c. 30m E-W) defined by earthen boundary. Short portion of stone wall is pierced by entrance on roadside at W. Entrance is defined by a round-headed opening closed by an iron gate. 'FRIENDS BURIAL GROUND' is neatly carved into the stone of the round-headed arch. There are no gravemarkers within this graveyard. According to Butler (2004, 131) this is a Quaker burial ground dating to 1731, which was bequeathed by John Boles of Woodhouse, who is buried here along with his son (d. 1726). His dwelling at Woodhouse was registered as a meeting place which alternated with another in Cashel (ibid). In a local history publication S. J. Watson lists twelve burials between 1731 and 1821, the year of its last recorded use (Butler 2004, 131). According to White (1892, 32), the townland was later owned by the Sparrow family, who may also be interred here.
