What is recorded here
Dunmanus Bay hammers the southern edge of the fort, erasing the earth that once defied the sea. A narrow tongue of land, barely wide enough for a dozen people to stand shoulder to shoulder, thrusts westward into the water. The steep bank still rises, but the ocean takes it back in shards during every storm. What remains is a bruised ridge where human ambition and tidal patience continue their quiet argument.
Small irregular area (L 17m; Wth 7.4m) projecting W into Dunmanus Bay. Defended by steep-sided earthen bank (H 4.3m) with outer fosse (D 1.7m); collapsing into sea to S, with outer fosse (D 1.7m). Interior overgrown and being rapidly eroded by sea, at S side in particular (site was much less eroded when inspected by Westropp (1921a, 107).
