What is recorded here
A prehistoric lithic scatter was identified on Creadan Head by Noel McDonagh. Following this, within an area c. 20m x 10m and within 15m of the cliff face, an excavation (licence no. 2016:790) was undertaken by Professor Peter Woodman in 2016 (Kiely 2016; Kiely 2020 unpublished report). The excavation, consisting of six test pits, revealed an assemblage of lithics which would appear to date from the early/early-middle Mesolithic period (c. 10,000 - 8,500 BP) (ibid.).
