Freestanding cast-iron pillar postbox, erected c. 1930. Shallow domed cap with dentillated rim, moulded necking and plinth, raised 'Post Office' monogram to front of door, foundry stamp, now illegible, to rear of plinth. Set in verge of footpath beside more recent steel postbox.

This postbox bears the simple monogram 'Post Office' and the maker's inscription to the plinth is illegible, but it was possibly made by the Dublin firm Tonge & Taggart. Although its form mimics that of earlier examples, the dearth of elaborate decoration here is illustrative of increasing precedence of functionality over form in street furniture.
