What is recorded here

Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c.1890, with VR royal cipher and crown motif. Set in limestone wall that bounds the train station.
The modest design of the box is enhanced by the royal cipher with crown motif, which enliven the appearance of this otherwise functional object. It identifies the reign of Victoria (1837-1901).

Charleville HouseOfficer's house · 37 yd

Explorer Tom Charleville House is the leftover from a love story that went sideways next to an old gaol, leaving it with a pedimented bay for drama. It’s got axe finials on its gates, which is either fancy or just very specific. Hum something mournful as you admire this striking terrace addition in Tullamore.

Tullamore Railway StationSignal box · 41 yd

Explorer Tom Tullamore Railway Station signal box was saved by a hero nobody remembers, probably a dog. It’s got a decorative finial that looks like it’s trying to fly away. Perfect spot to practice your dramatic sighs while pretending you’re missing a train!

Explorer Tom European Yew in County Offaly swore by a prophecy that never came true, leaving it very embarrassed about its reputation. It’s still waiting for the magic moment. Pretend you're a lost aristocrat, nobody will check.

Graveyard2.0 mi

Explorer Tom Graveyard in Kilbride is locked in a feud with the view over who gets to be photographed first. St Brigid’s well is right there too, so you can drink history and argue about aesthetics simultaneously without breaking a sweat. Hang around long enough and you'll hear a story from a local.

Explorer Tom St. Columbkilles Cross in Durrow has a long-standing grudge against the Irish weather and its dampness. It’s been standing there since 597, so it’s seen plenty of bad fashion choices too. Have a sandwich here and call it a heritage lunch.
