This post box is representative of the design and form of mid twentieth century cast-iron post boxes in Ireland, and retains a well-executed monogram. Today, contemporary post boxes are generally plastic and often replace the distinctive cast-iron box. It is interesting to note the changes in the decorative detail from Victorian times to the latter part of the twentieth century.
